The Construction Safety Officer will work closely with the Site Superintendent to enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and WorkSafe OH&S regulations on the assigned construction site. They will be responsible for accurate compliance to OH&S legislation and promoting a culture of safety. The CSO is also responsible for assisting with compliance to the corporate OH&S Program and administering first aid services as necessary.
The CSO will work without supervision and can perform their duties outdoors in inclement weather. Communication is key in this role as the CSO must effectively lead and document toolbox meetings, monthly safety committee meetings, perform job hazard assessments, safety audits, and communicate safety requirements to all site personnel. Performing construction tasks such as building guardrails, basic carpentry, and general labour is also required.
