Human Resources Manager

Reports to: Senior Vice President

Position Scope

The Human Resources Manager will lead Allaire’s HR program and take ownership of all HR matters across the company. They will lead the development of recruitment tools and approaches, sufficient to attract highly competent construction and administration leaders, estimators, and general construction workforce.

The HR Manager will prepare internal documentation, processes, reports, and structures to ensure full-cycle human resource practices are implemented which will enable the organization to achieve critical targets.

They will consistently recruit excellent staff while maintaining a smooth onboarding process. Providing training and coaching to staff and resolve conflicts in a positive and professional manner. They will be expected to carry out administrative duties, conduct performance and wage reviews, develop clear policies, and ensure policy awareness.

The HR Manager must be competent in using HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, and Excel, and have exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, CPHR designation, 10 years of experience in human resources, with 3-5 years experience in the construction industry is required. Equivalent combination of technical training and knowledge may also be considered.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the HR Manager will have proven working experience as an HR Manager or other HR Executive. They will be people oriented and results driven. The HR Manger must have demonstrable experience and knowledge of HR systems and databases. With excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills they are competent in building and effectively managing interpersonal relationship at all levels of the company. In depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices are also key.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to leaders regarding compensation-related matters, including salary recommendations, job evaluation, and promotions.
  • Monitor and contribute to ongoing improvements to staffing process and strategies
  • Promote trust and open communication with employees.
  • Maintain knowledge of current federal and provincial laws and regulations.
  • Participate in resolving issues related to employee relations.
  • Analyze, investigate, and support the resolution of business / people issues. 
  • Provide guidance and support on employee matters including policy interpretation, respectful workplace concerns, conflict in the workplace. 
  • Understand the site level environment and ensure alignment with business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or an equivalent combination of technical training and knowledge may also be considered.
  • CPHR designation.
  • 10+ years’ experience in human resources. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and various technologies.
  • Models strong ethics in regard to privacy and confidentiality. 
  • Knowledge of and experience applying Federal and Provincial laws and legislation to employee related situations. 
  • Understanding of workforce-related and provincial employment laws and regulations. 
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Experience in educating and coaching staff. 
  • Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent logic and problem-solving skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
